Tiki Food and Luau Party Foods: Hawaiian Sliders recipe, great for a PuPu platter.

Tropical tiki food: Learn how to make a excellent Hawaiian Sliders recipe.
This is a great item to use for a PuPu platter at a luau or tiki party. These little sliders are fun to make and super easy to eat for both young and old. My son is 3 and he loves these Hawaiian sliders, real easy for him to eat. You can make them indoors or outside at the grill. The pineapple brings in a nice tropical sweetness to this mini hamburger. And the sweet Hawaiian buns, but a nice spin on the classic slider recipe. We just had these tonight, and thought we would share them with you.

The nice thing about this recipe is that you can use either Pork or Beef for this Hawaiian recipe:

HAWAIIAN SLIDERS Recipe:
Ingredients:

• Pork or Beef
• Sweet Hawaiian buns
• Pineapple Slices
• Red Onion
• Sea Salt and fresh ground Pepper
• Cheese Slices

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Roll the pork or beef into small golf ball sized pieces and flatten into a mini pattie.
2. Heat grill to med-high heat.
3. Place mini patties ontot the grill and cook for about 2-3 minutes each side. Do not flatten the sliders as this will release to much of the flavor.
4. Place sliders off to side and on high heat quickly grill the pineapple slices until caramelized.
5. Place pineapple and sliders on the sweet Hawaiian buns.
6. Add the cheese if desired.
7. Add lettuce, onion and mustard to taste.

Poi Recipe a Closer look at a Hawaiian & Island Food Staple. Tiki Party or Luau

    Tiki Foods & Tropical Dishes.

Learn how to make the traditional Poi recipe.

A Closer look at a Hawaiian and Island Food Staple.
Great for tiki party or traditional island luau.

Poi is a crucial part of traditional Polynesian and Hawaiian daily lifestyle.
Taro, the plant from which poi comes from, and the  poi bowl are both considered sacred to the hawaiian people.

    photo of a Poi dish
    Poi

When a Poi bowl is placed on the dinner table, it is
believed the spirit of Haloa is present. Haloa is
a sacred ancestor spirit to the Hawaiian people.
This is because the Hawaiians think that the
taro plant is the original ancestor of their people.
Therefore when the bowl is placed on the table,
    all family arguing must stop.

    FOOD OVERVIEW
Poi has a light delicate flavor and a pasty
like texture. Fresh Poi is sweet, and as it ages
it will become more sour tasting. It is important
to keep Poi cold and out of the sun when storing.

Great as a side dish with fish.

Poi makes a great baby food.

Poi can be mixed with milk and sugar.
It is also used in making hawaiian bread.

    PREPARATION
The taro is cleaned, cooked then mashed up with water.
The Poi is mashed until it forms a paste like texture.
Water can again be added before eating.
